Attending the Migrant x Me public learning journey provided new insight for our project which focused on Bangladesh Migration to Singapore.

Something that stood out to us was that during the debrief, we got the chance to challenge our previously-held assumptions about the migrant community. Being a marginalised and vulnerable community, they often have been victims of one-dimensional media portrayals. This results in the perpetuation of prejudices toward them from society.

The public learning journey encouraged us to see that individual change need not be grand or complex. After gaining a deeper understanding of the situation and the needs of the migrant community, it’s critical that we don’t just stop there. The baby steps that we take in changing our mindsets and attitudes toward them are small ways that can change things for the better.
